The Seagull in the Striped Shirt

Gilly the Seagull bought a captain’s beret, A blue-and-white shirt for her pirate debut day. She landed with pride on the old wooden pier And squawked: “Lock your snacks! A sea bandit is here! I’ll plunder the sandwiches toasted with cheese!” But when little Bobby, as kind as you please, Shared half of his pretzel right out of his hand, Gilly forgot she’s the terror of the sand. She twirled in the breeze with a joyful wing-bend: “It’s much nicer to be a good pal than a pirate, my friend!”
